Surgical Dental Assistant
Southern Minnesota Periodontics and Dental Implants is an established specialty dental practice in Mankato, MN. We are searching for a kind, energetic Licensed Dental Assistant with a surgical background to join our expanding team! Providing quality care to our patients is our number one priority. Overview
Full time position. 7:30 am – 5:15/5:30 pm Monday- Friday
Mankato, MN
Paid hourly based on qualifications and work performance

Job Description
As we are a specialty office job duties will include:
- Greeting and seating patients, while retrieving an updated medical history and charting notes and treatment plans.
- Review patient’s medical history and take vital signs.
- Keeping patients comfortable, review patient education and post op cares.
- Assisting with all surgical procedures (extractions, hard and soft tissue grafting, surgical exposure of impacted teeth, tori removal, biopsies, bone grafting, implant placement, suture removal, etc.)
- Proper sterilization of instruments, breakdown, disinfection and setup of dental operatories.
- Assisting and monitoring with intravenous conscious sedation, general anesthesia and supplemental use of nitrous oxide.
- Responsible for patient flow and keeping treatment rooms organized and stocked with supplies.
- Taking 3D cone-beam scans, full mouth periapical x-rays.
- Creating and sending treatment update and final restoration letters.
- Documenting clinical procedures and materials utilized.
Skill Set and Requirements
Licensed Dental Assistant with a surgical background
Outstanding communication
Current basic life support and CPR certifications
Current knowledge of OSHA and HIPAA rules and regulations as applicable
Ability to study and learn quickly
Excellent manual dexterity
Excellent time management
Detailed oriented
Additional skills requested but not required:
Dentrix software knowledge
2 years of experience
